Hi – I have just invested in a bean to cup machine. I am fond of quite a long latte style drink as I like a milky based drink but I something find, aside from having 3 – 4 shots of espresso, the espresso doesnt give me the nice coffee taste. I guess I am trying to tailor a drink but I would rather now of a stronger tasting bean.
    Looking forward to a reply.
    Thanks.

    YOU MENTION FOR MAKING A CAPPUCCINO.USE A 150ML/8OZ CUP,IF I AM NOT GETTING THE POINT 150ML = 5.27 OZ/FL OZ
I USE A 300ML CUP,USE THE 2 CUP FILTER TO GET 100ML OF ESPRESSO COFFEE YOU MAY CALL IT A DOUBLE SHOT,DON’T GET ME WRONG I AIN’T PICKING FAULT,ITS JUST THAT I AM NEW AT MAKING IT AND EVERY ONE MENTIONS SHOTS DOESN’T MENTION HOW MANY GRAMMS OF ESPRESSO COFFEE TO USE FOR THE SIZE THEY JUST FILL THE COFFEE BASKET AND ALL THE VIDEO’S I SEE ALL CUPS ARE THE SAME SIZE,I EAR 1 SHOT = 7GRAMMS AND THE SHOT SO MANY PEOPLE NEVER GIVE THE SAME VOLUME IN THE SHOT FROM 25ML TO 45ML.IT WOULD BE MORE UNDERSTANDING IF YOU CAN TELL ME THE 150ML/6OZ CUP UNLESS YOU JUST USE THE NEAREST OZ TO IT AND IF I AM CORRECT IN PUTTING AROUND JUST OVER 14GRAMMS OF ESPRESSO COFFEE IN MY COFFEE BASKET TO GET A DOUBLE SHOT. I GRIND MY OWN BEANS TO THE FINEST POWDER AND I USE 70%BRAZILIAN WITH 30% COLOMBIAN.THANK YOU IF YOU CAN HELP OR EXPLAIN.ROB

      Hi Rob,
      Thank you for your question.
As I can see, you are referring to “150ML/8oz cup” from Cappuccino post. It was in fact a typo and meant to be “250ml/8oz”, we have just fixed it, thanks!
Regarding your question about a shot of espresso: General rule for 1 shot is 7-9 grams and 14-18 grams for a double shot, but don’t hesitate to experiment, that’s where all good things come from. ;)
Please get back to us, if you have more questions.

    Hi,
I have a question regarding what is the correct way to prepare macchiato ? Some say that it is espresso and then milk froth on the top and some say that it should be first milk froth on the bottom of the cup an then pour the espresso over it as the meaning of the word macchiato is marked.
    Thank you,

    Ivana

    Hey,

I’ve just started day shifts at my bar which means I need to learn to make good coffee. I’m getting there with all the milk steaming and learning what coffee is what, but what I can’t find out is, how many mls of coffee do I need for a latte or a cappuccino? You have to stop and start our machine. You can’t press the button and it’ll stop when it’s reached the perfect amount. Someone told me it has to pour for 20 seconds. Someone else told me 15 seconds. But sometimes the coffee trickles out and sometimes it floods!

So. I just need to know. How many millilitres makes good coffee so I can measure it then learn what it looks like so I can pour by sight :)

    • James says:

Thanks for the post Claire, I’m going to get back to you with that information… Have an awesome day for now and good luck in your new shifts!

    • James says:

Claire, A Cafe Americano consists of a single or double-shot of espresso combined with between 1 and 16 fluid ounces (30 – 470ml) of hot water. A shot of coffee is 30ml, so you will need to ask what the customer prefers – 1 or 2 shots. We recommend 2. Hope this helps!
